About the Artist
I grew up in a tiny town nestled between Rice Lake and Menomonie in the northern woods of Wisconsin. I do not have any formal education in the arts, however I earned my Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science and graduated from UW River Falls in 2022. I have additional minors in animal science and biology, and currently work as a clinical laboratory technologist. I learned a lot of my art skills from high school and through years of practice; I’ve been painting for as long as I can remember!
My love and appreciation for nature and biology pours from my paintings through the wild scenery and especially the flowers. When I paint these familiar botanicals and scenes I learn about myself in a way- because I let go of my conscious self when I pick up the brush. I pick colors as I go, and I use leaf/petal shapes based merely on what feels right in that moment. There is an art to letting go of the mechanics and rules of everything else in this world when I pick up a brush. This way I can connect with my creative, intuitive side that shines through my work.
